The pictures are show playing, working, practicing or just pausing people - they are asked before the curtain:

What is their history? What have they experienced? Has life played pranks on them? Are they happy? What are their desires, fears and worries? What characterizes them? What do they believe in? What person is that?

The snap-shot of the image can be used as a pulse to answer these questions, it lets us explore the circumstances and situation of the protagonists beyond the moment.
